McKean County Raceway had a rare Sunday night event on the program and even a brief rain shower after the evening started didn’t stop the night’s activities. Brad Mesler of Wellsville and Victor Earle Jr of Smethport won their first ever feature events at MCR in the RUSH Late Models and Street Stock division. Joining them in victory lane was Josh Wilcox, Steve Dixon, Dave Lowe Jr and Dylan Edminster.

Al Brewer and Butch Talbot paced the Advocare by Street Stocks for their 15 lap main event. The two long time veteran drivers with over 70 years of racing experienced took Earl Clark’s green flag with Brewer getting the jump on Talbot as the field roared into turn one. Victor Earle quickly took second with last Thursday’s winner, Fuzzy Fields in third. Brewer, Earle, and Fields pulled away from the remaining field making it a three way battle. Lap six would see second place point driver, Brad Curran go pit side with Brewer holding off the challenges of Earle. Lap eight would see the red flag wave for Ed Coast as his rear end exploded and caught fire as Brewer had opened a few car lengths lead over the #00 of Earle. On the restart Earle kept the pressure on the veteran Brewer as Scott Free and point leader, Rich Wotjowicz now in the top five. Earle would finally make the winning pass on Brewer on lap 12 as he lead the final four laps for his first ever win at MCR in front of his big entourage of fans at his hometown track. Brewer would come home second for the second straight event in 4 days at MCR. Fields was third followed by Freer in his best finish of the year and Wotjowicz coming home fifth. Brewer and Jeremy Perry won the two heats.

Thursday night’s winner, Steve Lebarron and Little Power Shop RUSH Late Model point leader, Brad Mesler lead the crate late model field to green. Mesler powered to the lead at the start with Lebarron and Garrett Mott in third. Lap two saw Mott grab second from Lebarron. Andy Michael and Mott battled hard for second behind Mesler who had opened up his lead and led the entire distance for his first ever MCR win. Smethport native, Mott came home second ahead of Michael as the duo battled the entire race against each other and had well deserved finishes. Former go kart racer and teenager, Kyle Murray came home fourth to keep impressing the competition, Dennis Lunger Jr came home fifth after a early race spin after contact with another competitor.

Dylan Edminster and Mandy’s Young Guns point leader, Josh Isaman paced the ever growing kids class for their 12 lap main event. Edminster the Thursday night’s winner lead from the start with Isaman and CJ Sherwood as your top three. Cole Youse found his way into third quickly by lap two and took second from Isaman on lap four. Youse making his first start of the year at MCR took the lead from Edminster on lap six as the yellow came out for the point leader Isaman who broke a fight front wheel ending his night. Youse would take control of the event as Edminster would stay within striking distance but not close enough to strike for the lead or the win. Dusty Skinner fell off the pace the last few laps relinquishing third to Brooke McClain, with CJ Sherwood coming home fourth and Skinner rounding out the top five. In post race inspection, The Youse machine was found illegal per the rules of MCR handling the win over to Edminster.

The Raught’s Country Kitchen Pure Stocks saw Mark Schweikart and Josh Wilcox bring the sixteen car field to the green with both drivers looking to grab their first win of the year. Wilcox would lead lap one over Schweikart and point leader Zack Gustafson. Gustafson would take second from Schweikart on lap three as the two drives are within a few points of each other for the division point championship. Schweikart would get high on lap five to allow Smethport’s Dustin Raught and Jason Dobson to both get past the Schweikart machine ad Gustafson kept the pressure on Wilcox for the lead. Raught and Dobson ran door to door for third till lap fifteen when Dobson finally got third from Raught. Schweikart got fourth back from Raught with five to go. The yellow lights came on with one to go and during the caution Raught would go to the pits. On the restart the car on the move was William Bigley, who went from fifth to third in the one lap dash to the checkers as Wilcox picked up the popular win over Gustafson, Bigley with a season best third, Schweikart came back to get fourth ahead of his father Roger who won Thursday night.

Anthony Schoonover and Josh Torrence brought the 20 car Mary Norgrove Notary Public Mini Stock feature to the start. Schoonover took the initial lead as Mitch Boylan followed Schoonover into second till he made the pass for the lead on lap two. Point leader and fifth place starting Kurt Babcock took the lead from Boylan on the third lap and that lasted a lap when Thursday night winner and eighth place starting Dave Lowe Jr. took over the top spot. Seventh place starting Holden Heineman took third over the middle part of the race and pressured Babcock for second till two to go when he overtook the runnerup spot. Lowe would win his second straight win of the year and was followed by Heineman, Babcock, ninth place starting Eric Canfield came home fourth and Schoonover came home fifth for one of his best performances at MCR.

The final event of the evening was the Close Racing Supply RUSH Pro Mods. Steve Dixon and Critter Hemphill set the pace to the green with Dixon in the Kelly Frederes #33 machine getting the early jump on Hemphill. With two in the books, Chad Carlson was second. The yellow lights came out on lap four for Dana Stephens. On the restart the field scrambled for position behind Dixon at the start and contact between Vena and Carlson resulted in Carlson spinning in turn 1. Dixon restarted the event with Dennis Lunger now in the runner up spot with Vena in third. Dixon would hold off the charges from Lunger who has dominated the RUSH Pro Mod division at other tracks this summer. But tonight it was Dixon picking up his second MCR win of the year over Lunger, Vena, Carlson and Hemphill.
